Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz is a dynamically developing university, which now is the largest in the city and the second largest in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province, both as regards the number of professors, number of majors and forms of studies offered and the number of students and graduates.

Today a comprehensive educational offer of studies covers 30 majors and nearly 100 specialties at three levels: bachelor in art and bachelor in engineering (1st level), master and and post graduate studies (2nd level) as well as doctoral studies (3rd level). The university also provides over 40 postgraduate courses, broadening qualifications and conferring new rights.

Over the last few years our University has offered education to about 5 thousand newly enrolled students a year. Currently, 15 thousand students are studying here.

Since 2001 bachelor degree (1st level) studies at the Computer Science Major are available at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Technology, at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Computer Science, while in 2010 the Mechatronics Major was established as first and second level studies.

There are two specialties within the Computer Science Major: Networks and Distributed Systems and IT Systems in Technology and Environmental Protection.

The staff of the Institute carries out research mainly in two disciplines: computer science and mechanical engineering of materials.

Research in computer science is carried out in selected fields. It results in, among others, authorship of specialized monographs, numerous scientific papers, prepared doctorate thesis, fully equipped laboratories, innovation-oriented cooperation with non-university units and fruitful international cooperation.
