The activities of the University of Economy in Bydgoszcz on IT services market can be divided into three areas. The first of them concerns services in the field of software development and maintenance in its broad sense. For this purpose, the University of Economy permanently employs 15 software developers of different competences. Where appropriate, this team is increased by cooperating persons taking part in larger projects. From the very beginning, the University of Economy has been developing its own IT systems designed to improve its functioning and student services. Some of these systems have been or will be implemented in the near future also in other universities. The major projects for own needs include an integrated system of university management and student services, the postgraduate studies, training and courses management system, the electronic system for work time registration, room access control and parking time management at the university car park, the e-learning system based on Moodle and over 700 web sites. Moreover, we have been actively supporting companies of the region with our scientific and IT potential for many years. Only in the years 2011 - 2015, 53 out of 113 research and development projects of the total value amounting to PLN 7 685 770 were related to IT and were completed upon orders placed by third party companies. The second of these areas of activity are training services which are provided in the form of courses and postgraduate studies. They range from training in the design and administration of computer networks (CISCO CCNA/CCNP Academy), software development training (using e.g. C/C++, C#, Java, Android, iOS) on any level, training in database solutions as well as web technologies in their broad sense. In the last 5 years we have conducted more than 100 training courses for companies and institutions from Poland and other European countries. The university also offers services (which are unique on the market) in scope of manufacturing prototype electronic equipment (including software) as well as the development and implementation of dedicated interfaces for machines and robots. It is also worth mentioning that the completed projects include execution of more than 30 remotely controlled and autonomous mobile platforms.
