The University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz (Uniwersytet Technologiczno-Przyrodniczy im. Jana i Jędrzeja Śniadeckich w Bydgoszczy) is a multi-profile school of higher education. The university educates engineers and is the only one in the region integrating agricultural sciences and technology.
Throughout the 60 year-history, the studies at the University have been completed by over 45 thousand graduates. Today there are about 10 000 students at full-time and part-time courses as well as postgraduate and doctoral programs.
Students are consistently trained to become modern engineers as new courses of study needed in the region are launched. A good example of such policy can be the Power Engineering major launched in 2013 and the Applied Computer Science major launched in 2014, which was a response to the expectations of companies of BPO / SSC sector operating in the region. Another form of support for the sector are numerous courses and postgraduate studies organized by the University. The most recent of such initiatives is a postgraduate course launched in partnership with ATOS, where some classes are conducted by the employees of that company. Another form of cooperation with local companies are summer traineeships, allowing future graduates to get familiar with business activities of companies in the region.
Together with the institutions of the economic environment. the University supports all initiatives of local IT companies through participation in IT clusters.
